Short description and remarks

  • Engineering point of view :

'Shell and Tube'-Heat-Exchanger are widely spread in the field of chemical engineering. Still it is not clear how to arrange the tubes inside the appartus in order to get a optimal heat-transfer-behaviour. Beginnig from a simple configuration with only one tube we studied cases for 2x2 upto 5x5 tube arrangemnets for constant circumference as well as constant area.

  • Mathematical point of view :

This page contains the 2D simulation of fluid flows in a square of 4 units with one circle of radius 1.5, located at the centre of square i.e. at x = 2 & y = 2. The calculation starts from rest. The flow is observed with the Reynolds number, Re = 1000. This simulation is part of a Software-Praktikum at the University of Dortmund in 2004.
