Short description and remarks

Flow over an inclined "backward facing step" at high Reynolds number, starting fully developed (due to an idea of O. Pironneau). The flow shows a fully nonsteady behaviour, with very interesting patterns near the step. However, its evolution in time is not so clear and might require further grid refinement.

Visualization

  • Distribution of temperature/concentration via Boussinesq model

Visualization via distribution of a given concentration in the flow field, via starting particles at the inlet (first and second, with different colour maps, 0.9 MB and 1.1 MB) or via temperature distribution from the heated walls (third and fourth, with different colour maps, 0.7 MB and 1.1 MB).

  • Pressure

Visualization via pressure plots, shaded (first, 0.8 MB) and via isolines (second, 6.7 MB).

  • Streamfunction

Visualization via streamline plots, shaded (first, 0.9 MB) and via isolines (second, 5.1 MB).

  • Velocity

Visualization via vector plots (vectors, 8.4 MB) in a zoomed region.
