Short description and remarks

This simulation shows the flow through a channel in which a hill is located. The configuration is very similar to the proposed `turbulent benchmark' which can be found at

http://www.featflow.de/bench_turb/bmtext.html .

The flows shows a very complex behaviour with locally varying structures in space and time.

Visualization

  • Distribution of temperature/concentration via Boussinesq model

Visualization via distribution of the temperature in the flow field, starting from the heated walls (first, shaded, 2.9 MB, second, shaded with a different color map, 3.8 MB, third as a zoom, 9.6 MB), or via starting particles at the inlet (fourth and fifth with different color maps, shaded, 3.1 MB and 3.9 MB).

  • Pressure

Visualization via pressure plots, shaded (first, 4.4 MB) and via isolines (second, 9.8 MB).

  • Streamfunction

Visualization via streamline plots, shaded (first, 3.0 MB) and via isolines in a zoomed area (second, 13.2 MB).

  • Velocity

Visualization via vector plots (vectors, 9.6 MB) in a zoomed region.
