Short description and remarks
-
Engineering point of view :
Shell and Tube Heat-Exchangers are widely spread in
the field of chemical engineering. Still it is not
clear how to arrange the tubes inside the apparatus in
oredr to get an optimal heat-transfer-behaviour,
beginning from a simple comfiguration with only one
tube (Rad = 1.5), we studied cases from 1x1 to 5x5
tube arrangement for constant circumference as well as
constant area.
-
Mathematical point of view :
We studied a 2D cutplane of the above described
apparatus. Fluid flow calculation in a square of 4
units with 3 circles in a row, accounting to 9 as a
total number. The circles are of 0.166 radii. The circles
are placed at equidistant from each other and the
first circle in the configuration is located at x=1,
y=3. The calculation starts from rest. The
calculation is observed with Reynolds number,
Re=1,000. This simulation is part of a
Software-Praktikum at the University of Dortmund in 2004.
