Airport Dortmund

• with flights to a couple of destinations in Central Europe
• approximately 20 kilometers to the university
• bus transfer to the centrals railways stations, then urban railsway (S1) to the university

Airport Düsseldorf

• with many more international flights than the airport of dortmund
• approximately 60 kilometers to the university
• hourly transfer to the university by urban railway (S1)
• see the timetable of the local transportation association VRR and the timetable of the german railway association

By train

• railway station at northern campus
• urban railway departing every 20 or 30 mintes to central railway stations in Dortmund and Düsseldorf
• direct connection to Bochum, Essen, Mülheim, Duisburg

By car

• the campus is located in the direct neighbourhood of the motorway junction Dortmund West at the intersection of Sauerlandlinie A 45 Frankfurt-Dortmund and Ruhrschnellweg B 1 / A 40
  • to the west, there is the dense network of motorways of the Ruhrgebiet
  • to the east, motorway B 1 from Dortmund towards Unna with connection to motorways towards Bremen, Hannover/Berlin and Kassel
  • to the north, there is motorway A 2 (interchange Kamen (Kamener Kreuz), towards Oberhausen)
  • to the south, connection to motorway A 1 (from Bremen towards Cologne area)

  • Campus North: B 1 / A 40 in Dortmund-Dorstfeld
  • Campus South: A 45 in Dortmund-Eichlinghofen
• the street between Campus North and Campus South (Vogelpothsweg / Baroper Straße) has plenty of curves and has a speed limit of 30 km/h !! ⇒ hence, park your car and take the H-Bahn (aerial railway)!!

By public transport

• landmark of University of Dortmund: the H-Bahn (aerial monorail system)
• two terminals at Campus North:
  • directly above the urban railway station (accessable by elevators)
  • in the center of Campus North at the bridge between university library and cafeteria
