Merger of pipe flows

The following examples concern flows through a set of pipes which merge transversely or cocurrently.

At the crossing regions, the colliding flows produce complex flow patterns, with highly varying structures in space and time. The complexity depends on the:

  • inflow speed(s)
  • viscosity
  • angle and width of the pipes

A systematic variation of these different configurations is part of the following flow situations.
